Debonaire Exotic Animal Encounters

Please read the following carefully before completing a booking form

To Book an Event

In order for us to understand the details of your event we would ask that you complete the appropriate booking form below with the date you require. If you would like to check the availability of a specific date by all means ring or email us first. We would put a provisional hold on a date for you over the telephone or by email but would only hold the provisional booking for one day whilst you complete the necessary form. If you have some flexibility on the date please also use the ‘alternative date’ fields. We will always try to give you your first choice but if we are very busy it will give you the best chance of securing an encounter.
Cancellation by a client within two weeks of the booked encounter will incur a 100% charge unless there are extenuating circumstances making the event impossible to carry out. Although we allow a very generous amount of travelling time for potential delays, in the unlikely event that the we encounter a delay whilst travelling to a show, we will contact the client immediately to inform of the situation. A booking may not be cancelled by a client as a result of a delay where the encounter is still possible. If an encounter is not possible due to this sort of delay, an alternative date will be arranged.

The information that is requested on the form is mandatory so that there can be no confusion regarding your booking. On receipt of the form, we will then send a confirmation to you.

If we are not available for any reason, please leave a message and we will normally get back to you with in one working day.

The terms below are not intended to sound too rude or officious, our primary concern is for the welfare of the animals. We have had some bad experiences in the past (not many but …) and we need to ensure that the event organiser fully understands the implications of an unruly audience …we would ask that you take it in the spirit is intended.

1)      All children must be supervised at all times by the party organiser or designated helpers. We are not responsible for looking after any children attending the event; we have come to show them our animals.

2)      Children are only allowed to touch /stroke animals under the direct supervision of myself or my associates.

3)      Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to handle any of the animals. I do apologise but under the terms and conditions of our licence and insurance this is not permitted.

4)      There are certain animals that are not allowed to be handled at all; again this is due to licensing and insurance regulations.

5)      If children are overly noisy and unruly then we will have to cancel the encounter. A refund is not applicable if the party is cancelled under these circumstances.

6)      Children must not feed the animals under any circumstances. These animals have a specific specialised diet and feeding party food etc will be detrimental to their health.

1)      We do appreciate some of these events may be a celebration and may involve people drinking etc. We will not tolerate any behaviour that is likely to upset the animals, myself or my associates that is caused by drinking.  The encounter will be terminated immediately if we are not happy with atmosphere. There will be no refund if the encounter is terminated under these circumstances.

Venue

We would expect that generally our encounters would be held indoors or if nowhere else is available, inside a marquee or gazebo as long as there is a roof and sides. We generally do not use microphones as this may alarm the animals.

We put a floor covering down to prevent the occasional, inevitable, dropping from damaging your floor, we also tend to use this as an area which the audience do not enter unless invited. In this way we can keep control of who is doing what. We then position a screen behind this are to ‘protect’ the animals not involved at that moment (and also to ‘hide’ our travelling cases).

We ask that two or three chairs are made available. This allows us to be seated if need be. It also ensures that both the animal and any invited audience member to be more comfortable when handling an animal.

To comply with our health and safety guidelines, there must be hand washing facilities available reasonably adjacent to the arena. We do provide hand cleanser for the protection of both the audience and the animals. However, we do still stress the importance of hand washing when handling animals and the audiences are always given clear instructions at the beginning and end of each show or presentation.

We obviously carry quite a bit of equipment and the animals themslves; we therefore ask that suitable access arrangements are made in terms of car parking in close proximity to the event arena. Any parking charges involved would be the responsibility of the host.

We would expect to be on-site approximately one hour before an event is due to start to make sure that the equipment can be set-up and that the animals are calm. Clearly at this point we would expect access to be available and the host or a representative to be present to ensure we understand the details of the venue.

Payment

A deposit is required at the point of booking via PayPal, Debit or Credit Card. This can be done through the website as the booking form is completed. The balance would be payable either in cash on the day of the encounter or by PayPal, Debit or Credit Card through the booking page on the website.

Please select the relevant booking form from the selection at the base of this page. You will be taken to a form requiring certain information in order for us to successfully meet your needs. Many of the fields on the forms are required and you will not be able to submit the form with entering data into these fields. You will also need to tick the ‘acceptance’ box for the Terms & Conditions before the form can be submitted.

Once the form has been successfully sent, you will see a message displayed advising of that. You will then need to make payment by clicking either ‘Pay Deposit’ or ‘Pay in Full’. Both of these options will take you throught the process allowing payment using a debit or credit card or a PayPal account if you have one (you can create one if required as you go through the payment process if you wish).

We regret that we are unable to accept cheques from private individuals unless paid sufficiently in advance to allow clearance prior to the event. For educational establishments, payment can be made by cheque or BACS. Official groups such as Scouts, Guides etc. and corporate events may pay by cheque. An invoice will be presented on the day or sent in advance if requested (there is a checkbox on our booking form to request this). Cheques should be made payable to Debonaire Exotic Animals.

Educational Encounters
We have heavily discounted all our educational encounters as we want to encourage educational establishments to get involved in developing an understanding of animals that most poeople have probably never even heard of!

We strongly believe that education is the best way of ensuring the wellbeing of the exotic animals represented by Debonaire. We also offer discounted events for veterinary eductaion.

Video & Photography

We want the audience to maximise their enjoyment of the Encounter both on the day and also by taking video footage or still photography. This will allow the event to be enjoyed over and over again and also shared with others.

We have no objection to either video or still cameras being used provided use of flash is kept to a minimum and that audience members wishing to get close to the animals do so with full permission of the presenter. The only request in this regard is that copies of images and video are passed to Debonaire after the event (by email or DVD). Whilst we can’t and wouldn’t want to enforce this rigidly, we request your cooperation. Any testimonials given will be used on this site and a link given back to the originator’s website(where appropriate).
